Hello hello and HELLOO!!

Welcome to
the Color Room’s First annual Blog HOP.
Before I start writing more about it,
can I just say very quickly (Please read it quickly)
I am so thrilled to be a member of DT at TCR!
WOW!!!!!
I am so excited and honoured to be amongst such talented artists.
And I really really hope that my creations can inspire people.
Thank you.
(was that quick enough?)
so, where was I?
I was just about to put the kettle on to make myself a cup of tea.
...... ???
hang on.
yes, yes,
blog HOP!!
We are celebrating our 50th Palette, and we have some amazing things to share with you this week.
You have just come from
MELISSA’s blog.
She makes such feminine, sweet, elegant and gorgeous cards, doesn't she?
They are all so wonderful!!
(hello, Melissa. My birthday is in September just in case you wanted to know :P)
And here is this week's gorgeous
TCR palette.
Lydell does such a wonderful job every week. So much work and effort is put into TCR palettes and sketches.
Lydell, you absolutely ROCK!!
and here is my take on #50.
some close-ups.
I am sure you have been finding more about the DT members while blog hopping and here are some things about me! (you can swap your leg to hop on :))
1. Where am I?
I am originally from Japan but living in the southern highlands in NSW Australia. (I have been living in Australia for the past 12 years now)
As we all have heard that my homeland Japan was hit by massive earthquakes last week.
Fortunately my family and relatives are all OK and safe. But my heart and prayers will go out to those who have been affected in such disaster. What I can do might be very limited but I will be doing my very best to help my people by making cards to sell and 100% profit will go towards those who are in desperate needs.
And I will keep praying for them....
2. I Live with...
my loving husband of 8 years, (he is caring, sweet, supportive and understanding of my addiction. He is such a wonderful hubby that everyone would dream of !! ... yes, he paid me to write these things about him. )and 2 very beautiful and very very demanding children (age 4 and 2)and 2 active dogs.
3. On my desk right now you will find .......
a MESS!! a big one, yes a HUGE mess.
I truly don't know how it ever gets so messy. Does anyone know??
I can't tell my children to pack up their toys and tidy up.
Because my room is always messy!!
4. My favourite colours to work with at the moment are........
purple, green, and orange. Purple and green are my most favourite colours but since I have been playing a lot at TCR (the best place to play and heaps of fun!), I have become more comfortable using different colours including the colours which I tend to avoid or dislike.
5. What kind of themes do you often scrap?
I like to document my children's life through pictures and words. I scrap not only big events (birthdays, first day at school, Xmas etc..) but I also want to capture everyday little moments, too.
There is a saying "A a picture tells a thousand words." I think it's so true but
I like to write about the pics and my thoughts on each page whether it's right on the background paper or in a hidden journal.
For this layout, the title says it all :))
6. Where do you scrap?
I am very fortunate and lucky to have my own scrap room. It is one the bedrooms turned into my little cage filled with papers, photos and other bits and pieces... (oh no, no. That's not rubbish. It's just resting on the floor. and that one and that one and this one, too.) It's where I lock myself in most nights (apart from some nights when I am so tired and fall asleep while reading a story book to my kids )
Here is a pic of my messy desk at the moment. (at the moment? not all the time?)
please be advised that the images may disturb some viewers.
I am not brave enough to upload a pic of my entire room..
I sometimes (only sometimes) let my daughter play with my buttons.
But I have to be careful and keep watching her not because she might put them in her mouth. It's because she puts them in her pockets and try to steal my precious buttons!! :))
Hey! Give me back my buttons!!
And most nights, I am accompanied by Max who lays down comfortably in his spot on the corner of my room.
Sometimes he uses a pile of my precious papers as a pillow.
Max, please don't do that.
7. What is your scrapping process?
1. I choose a pic(s)
At this stage I know what sort of page I want to create whether it's a bright and colourful fun page or more of quiet colours together or something very simple or a little artsy)
2. Then I start gathering papers and placing them on a background paper.
3. As I am more of a thinker than a "Just do it." person, I spend a lot of time placing all the elements (cut out papers, embellishments and so on ) and re-placing them on a paper till I am finally happy about it all.
4. Once I know what a page looks like, I am very fast gluing all the elements:))
5. Then I put more layers.
Stop it Naomi!!
8. My favourite food is........
Ohh, it's a hard one.
I don't have food that I particularly dislike.
But I have to say "Japanese food"
and guess what!
I am Japanese. What a coincidence!!
9. My top 3 favourite tools are.......
My eyes to catch the moments
My camera to take photos
My hands to create pages
10. I get my inspiration from.....
My family,
the talented artists at TCR,
and other wonderful scrappers all over the world!
11. Describe a Technique you used on your project this week........
I hardly ever use black and white photos. It's simply because I like colour photos very much.
But to match the palette this week, I happily used the BW photos.
A I wanted to make something little simpler and artistic than what I usually make, I decided to play with modelling paste which I spread out on the background.
For the title, I painted chipboard alpha in white and simply used as stamps.
I made the white flower-looking embellishment myself with organza fabric.
Please feel free to try this technique on your challenge this week and join the Color room.
Remember to leave a comment answering the question below to be in the running for this weeks special prize!!
Question:
What is one of my favourite tools?
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Next stop is NICOLE'sBlog.
As she creates such artistic, unique and fun pages,
I can't wait to see what she has come up with this week's palette!
I am off to see her take on #50.
Thanks very very much for participating.
